- Install EngABC and open a YouTube video with existing English captions.
- Refresh the video page after first installation or an extension update.
- Use the panel beside the video to navigate, search, loop, or change playback speed.
Frequently asked questions
Why are no captions displayed?
EngABC depends on the video's existing English captions. It cannot transcribe videos without an English caption track. Refresh the full page and try another captioned video to isolate the issue.
Why do I see English but no Chinese?
Chinese translation depends on translation tracks provided by YouTube. A track may be unavailable or temporarily rate-limited while English remains usable.
Which websites are supported?
The current version supports YouTube video pages only.
Does EngABC upload my captions?
No. Caption processing and playback controls run locally. When you request a definition, the selected English word is sent to Youdao Dictionary over HTTPS.

常见问题
为什么没有显示字幕？

为什么只有英文，没有中文？
中文字幕依赖 YouTube 提供的翻译轨道。翻译轨道可能不可用或暂时受到限流，但英文仍可继续使用。
支持哪些网站？
当前版本仅支持 YouTube 视频页面。
EngABC 会上传字幕吗？
不会。字幕处理和播放控制在本地完成；查询释义时，所选英文单词会通过 HTTPS 发送给有道词典。
